A New Sith, or Revenge of the Hope

Reconsidering Star Wars IV in the light of I-III

[I originally wrote this piece in 2005 and a friend posted it on his website. That site has recently gone down, so I'm reposting it here, as it still gets a lot of interest.]

If we accept all the Star Wars films as the same canon (as it seems we must) then a lot that happens in the original films has to be reinterpreted in the light of the prequels. As we now know, the rebel Alliance was founded by Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Bail Organa. What can readily be deduced is that their first recruit, who soon became their top field agent, was R2-D2.

The forgotten bookmark
As my daughter nears 9 and I almost have her convinced to watch with me, I have found this link hidden in my bookmarks. As a little smarty pants, I'm eager to see if your brilliance will be needed to fill in any holes she may find.

Star Wars: Rebels
SO, if you haven't been watching, the new animated series "Star Wars: Rebels" has taken this theory and run with it. R2-D2 is Organa's master spy doing missions for the Rebellion. NICE!

Watching Rebels after reading this gave me an entire new vision. This is masterpiece.

Here's the real fun. Since Disney basically said that only the movies and a few other things are canon, this makes even more sense.
